BORN WILD

Born Wild charts the relationship between two intertwined communities who inhabit North Carolina’s infamous, storm-beaten, and frighteningly beautiful Outer Banks coastline: its human population, and its tribes of wild mustang horses.

Descendants of the first colonies, these horses have survived for centuries. But now threatened with extinction, these two dwindling groups of survivors must learn from and support each other if they are to last in this delicately balanced environment between land and sea, already fast disappearing as the effects of climate change take hold.

Born Wild is a story of hope, freedom, and humanity’s capacity for good – and of the sheer resilience, ingenuity, and bravery of those – man and beast – who live in the eye of the storm. It is also, in many ways, the story of America.
